Smart guy, did my Iron butt last summer and did the ear plug deal. For me, the spongy, throw away ones worked real well. Harbor Freight has them pretty cheap. Keep several pair in both the bikes. Once the hearings gone, its gone

Thank you Stuck, and I agree. At 25 it's too early to start losing it.

Use the disposable foam ones on longer trips on my Ulysses. For some reason the wind off the windshield on that thing has a really annoying high pitched tones. For shorter trips (or in the winter) I wear a wool beanie that gets rid of the worst of it. Never needed 'em on the the other bikes.

Here is an alternative to the more expensive custom molded ear plugs that ENT Doctors sell for $85.00 and up. I have been wanting to get these, has anyone tried em yet?

I got these from Wal-mart. They work really well - especially if you get them nice and deep into your ear canal.

To the OP, if you are experiencing ringing in the ear (tinnitus), you have already done irreversible damage. Even with your FF helmet, you should wear ear protection.

P.S.- You will be less fatigued on your bunburner, or any ride, when using ear protection.
You did not hear me.I accept what is coming,if it does. Now 62 yrs old, have a pretty good idea what caused my ear ringing for the past 25 yrs.Loud music, loud Harleys,my job has many loud noises, including the diesel trouble truck I drive every day up and down the turnpike,my guns are very loud.Very hard to do anything the way I live without being surrounded by loud noises.I refuse to miss one second of the beautiful sounds blasting out of my hot rods pipes, along with the wind whipping by my ears.We only have on shot at this life, refuse to miss anything that makes me truly happy.Comprenda?
