This is illegal in the Iron Butt. You may carry extra fuel and you may install an oversized fuel tank. But, if you travel farther than 350 miles without a stop and a receipt, your claim will be disallowed. they are very specific about this...

Excellent tip right there monstead. That is what I'd go with if I had a need for them.

How do you guys fill yours, I fill it out of my gas can at home, the gas pumps nozzle is a bit tricky to fill that little bottle.
I fill mine at the pump. Stick your index finger between the lever and the handle to regulate the flow.

If you use zipties, get the Ultra Violet tolerant ones from a good electrical supplier. They won't turn brittle and let you down anytime soon.

Hey there, have family in Rio Ranch, Albuquerque and further north in the Cuba area. When my wife and I rode from Albuquerque to Alaska we picjked up the fuel containers for the MSR stoves at Gardenschwartz I believe they were up on Lomas. You can find them at places like the tree hugging REI also. They are an aluminum bottle with a composite top, extremely durable. Shoot me a PM when you get a chance. Have a great summer...

I said "screw it" and went to Home Depot and bought two 1 gallon Blitz fuel jugs.

With the handle type nozzles replaced by normal, invert and insert types like come
with almost every other fuel can, both will just barely fit into my left saddlebag.
I don't think I would normally use both, one should be enough, and I know that
they are not as leak proof as those aluminum bottles, but for the one or two legs
on my trip where I might get caught out, they'll do.
