I want to buy a pair of cool-*** handgrips for my 2006 FXD (I'm putting some nightster bars on her this weekend and need new grips since the originals are about worn out) but the ones I like say this... FOR LATE BIG TWIN MODELS FROM '82-'07
(EXCEPT MODELS WITH HANDLEBAR AIR RESERVOIR).
The only reservoir I have is my brake fluid res, but I just wanted to see if someone here knew anything I don't know before I go buying something that won't fit...
Be glad yours doesn't have it. I had it on my 95 Ultra and it was a pain in the a** . Not as many grips made for them now that they're "classic" bikes. However, it did give you the ability to tailor your ride to your preferences.
Handlebars that had the Air Reservoir had a (Schrader Valve) chuck in the end to fill the bar with air. Any grip that was not Air reservoir compatible would cover the end and you could not access the chuck to fill it. If it was compatible the grip had a removable end to access the chuck.

For anyone that does have the air chamber, Kury Iso Grips work nicely with a spin on valve stem extension. The end caps come off with 4 allen head screws, spin on the extension, adjust the pressure, remove the extension, replace the cap. I've been using the setup for 5 years
