Default Service Manual Help

I always like to do as much of my own wrenching as possible and waz wondering what service manual people recommend?
HD, Haynes, Clymer....? Also any vender recommendation you may have
I cant see letting HD dealerships soak me for everything. Quotes on 1,000 mile service alone was $250.00 at one HD dealership and $340 at another.

Buy your year and model HD service manual from one of the online places, should run around $50.00 Some the best money spent on something that isn't chrome.

I use the Clymer Shovelhead manual, has a great troubleshooting section, easy instructions, and complete wiring diagrams. Picked it up from J&P Cycle pretty cheap. I haven't seen the Haynes Manuals for a comparison.

Regardles of which maintenance manual you use, get the Harley parts book. It is an illustrated parts breakdown of your model with exploded views of every assembly on the bike and the part numbers for all of the components..

The genuine HD manual is far and away the best out there. It's worth paying extra for.

Bought my Service Manual from an eBay vendor on DVD for $10! Beats paying the Dealer $60. I just print out the pages I need and head for the garage!

Lake shore hd is a little cheaper than the dealer for hd manuals.
+1 on the parts manual. No more waiting for the parts guy to help you try and figure out what you need - just call in your order. And the exploded views are nice for service work.

Definitely the HD manual - they are head and shoulders above the rest for later models. Like others have said, check out eBay.

As the others have said get the HD manual. It is far better than the others. If you use it and the parts manual you won't have many problems.
