Default smoking wires! Help Please!

a couple of weeks ago I posted about how after removing my front signals something shorted out in the bike and one of the wires started smoking. I've got some pics of that today.

So, after i started up the bike, a wire from under my seat started smoking, i immediately shut it down and yanked the smoking wire. it was plugged into a red package labeled "Master Controller for ... Panac.... Systems"? I don't know what that is... Also there are two identical looking leads coming from this red package. The cable that started smoking (pictured below) was plugged into one of these leads. Any idea what these are? Or where to get a replacement cable for the one that burnt up? Also, is there suppose to be something plugged into both of these leads or just one?

THanks for any help!

Looks like a load equalizer for aftermarket turn signals has gone bad.

Looks like on of those things you add if you've installed LED lights and the blinkers blink too fast.

Smoking wires is a nasty habit.
You should probably stop doing it before it affects you permanently.

(Hint - that's not where the short is, that's what was affected. You need to find the source of the short)

yeah, that could be. i bought the bike w/ integrated brakelight & turn signal LEDs.

i attached one of my better MS paint drawings... its suppose to show that there was a small rectangular piece at the end of that cable, but it was melting and stuff so i tossed it.

recommendations??

i can stop any time i want... just not now

yeah, i found the short, in the handlebars, a couple of the wire nuts popped off the wires that had been cut to remove the signals and BAM!

It's a Kuryakyn Panacea turn signal module. The 2 connectors are for load equalizers. I would disconnect the entire module as it is probably toast. Now connect the 2 stock connectors (male/female) together. Be aware that your LED's will not work properly & the blinkers will flash fast. Now see a mechanic.

PS, the wire you pulled out is part of the module so replacing it is not an option as the module is probably fried. Now find out what caused it to fry. Did you cut a wire replacing the seat? Look hard.

I would suggest you consider getting rid of the wire nuts. I believe they are inappropirate for use on a motorcycle. Find another way to secure the wires.

+1 on aceing the wire nuts. maybe a cheap soldering iron and some shrink wrap would suffice.
