I have one on my 99 RK. The speedo reflection was so bad at night it was like looking through a flashlight shined at you to see where your going. No glare at all now. I put it on a long time ago, I think it was a "Rick Doss" accessory. It just glues on with clear adhesive, easy installation and never came off.
Thanks HD7585 ...I did look at JP and Harley has one also. They range in price form $17 to $50. I just don't want to get one and have it not really do what I want. I was just wondering if one type seemed to work better than another.
I have the speedo/tach combo and even with the visor it seems like I have a 'heads-up' display on my windshield. Not bad if I could just read upside down and backwards then I wouldn't have to look down at all at night. JMHO
Thanks for the info. I picked up my new RKC a week or so ago on which I had the Harley LED headlamp (#73390-10) installed. I was jazzed to check it out but to my disappointment found that the windshield glare from the speedo was so bad...great light or not, it was dangerous to ride. I checked the forum and you all provided the answer. I purchased part #5600653 from J&P Cycles and it works great. The only problem was that it didn't come with installation instructions, just a small nondiscript tube of glue. I contacted J&P via on-line chat and they instructed me as follows: 1. Clean both contact surfaces with alcohol 2. Apply glue to both surfaces, let it set-up for just a few seconds...you want to place the speedo visor on while the glue is still wet 3. Use painters tape to secure the visor and let it cure overnight. I also put painters tape on the glass of the speedo to ensure I didn't mess up the surface in the event any glue dripped; however, it was a problem getting the tape off where it abutted the chrome housing...if you're careful with the glue I would skip taping the glass. The glue appeared to be latex based as it was easy to get off where it bled a bit on the outside edges. It looks great and totally eliminated the glare. Thanks again forum writers!
