I'm posting this here because this section seems to get a lot of attention and I will (hopefully) get an answer soon.
I am replacing my OEM headlight bucket with a billet headlight bucket. The new bucket will be here sometime today. I think some wires are already attached to the new bucket.
Will I have to cut the old wires and splice in the new ones or what? (It would be nice if it all just snaps right in place, but I've learned the hard way lately when installing a tach that that ain't usually the case.)
It should be a straight forward swap possibly a few wire splices. Just make sure that the new bucket has the same # of wires (if it is pre-wired) as the OEM HL bucket or else you'll have to do some further cutting. Take your time, make sure you connect all of the Hi and Lo beam wires to the same terminals in the new HL and you should be fine. You can always twist the wires together first and use the high beam switch to check the hi/lo settings before any final soldering or crimping are done.
