Just got my hands on an Arturo Fuente Opus X Fuente Fuente (at 30 dollars a stick better be worth it) I always wanted to try one after hearing insanely good reviews its sitting in my humidor now.
But i think my favorite cigars right now are the Camacho Triple Maduro or the Rocky Patel Vintage 1992. Obviously all these cigars that i mention are not cuban but they are great none the less.
Another vote for Partagas Serie D no. 4. Best ciger I have ever had. And that is compared to all the Fuente's & Padrons I have in stock.
There are also companies in Switzerland who sell online.
My brother-n-law(RIP) would buy his from Switzerland,,,,I might have to ask sister-n-law if she knows which site he ordered them from. It's extremely dry here in So Cal, so cigars need to be in humidor 24/7. I have a humidor, put just put in water,,,,,is there some other I should be using? And Swisher Sweets are in my refridgerator
My last job one of my workers was maried to a guy from Cuba, her Father-in-law was very sick and dieing, they got a visa to go and visit him and I jokeinly said to her to bring me back some Cuban cigars. She said she would see what she could do,I told her I was only joking and she didn't have to pick me up anything but when she came back she told me they were very expensive so she didn't get any at the airport but the village her Father-in-law was from is were all the cigar factory workers lived and she brought me home what they rolled and smoked themselves. They were truely heaven

Yes, the site your brother-in-law used is still in business and highly reputable.
As for the humidor. Use PPG (at any cigar shop for about $4.00) and season it until the humifdty stablizes. Then keep it that way and add and remove cigars as needed... that s all you need unless you get more serious about the hobby.
I see that you are in San Diego. There is a chain of high end stores in Mexico called Sanborns. They are a legitmate, licensed cuban cigar dealer. What you buy there will be real. There may be other reputable dealers nearby, but I do know that what Sanborns sells, is the real deal. It isn't mail order but you can try it on the spot.
