One of the riders was cited near the town of Argo, AL (very tiny town) last night.

He told the officer that he was in a race from Key West to Alaska.

Cited (Citation and Disqualification)? or Sighted?

BTW, this thread and following these guys on the internet has pretty much taken over my time at work. I might have well just taken the time off and ridden my bike

Cited as in pulled over by the police and given a ticket. You know, "sign here by the X and press hard because there are four copies."

Got it. Here in MN people are so trustworthy we don't have to do the whole "sign here" thing to say you will appear in court. It is just assumed you will show.

It would suck to sink all the time and money into the H-H and then get tagged. Especially if he was just a couple over.

Is there a site anywhere that has all of the contenders and their current locations? I figured it would be on the Hoka-hey site, but I don't see it

Four copies. When I got a ticket last year in Alabama I got a computer generated ticket printed straight from the squad car. Aint Technology grand.

That's exactly what it is ... but it will interesting to see the outcome when the winner discovers they are a few hundred k short on the prize money.

Well....having read the comments on various sites,I am beginning to have my moments of concern about the validity of the Challenge...well..not exactly validity, rather the organization/planning of this event.
I had hoped that it would be better organized but it appears there are many concerns.
I just hope now that whoever wins is deserving of it and finishes the event in an honourable manner.
HOKA HEY IronAss! Hope you enjoy the challenge and reap your reward.

I suspect there will be only one 'approved' track. As I understand the bikes were all chipped by Hoka Hey and they will be monitoring forthe riders to follow the directions as written. Any one the deviates by a set margin will be out regardless of the miles ridden. Then again, there is only to be one winner for the Alaskan Gold, what ever that will be.
