Cool to see Harleys finish 1st and 2nd (or is it 1st and 1st?)!
It was only open to air cooled American V-twins. All Harley's except for one Indian which is out of the race, if I recall correctly. No Victory's allowed. No V-Rods allowed.
Let's see: 8482 miles divided by 190.33 hours is avg speed 44.56 mph. That's with 0 hours sleep going through numerous towns with stoplights and staying on secondary roads. Marks been going like crazy and he's days behind? Seems pretty incredible.

I do recall the dude in HOG magazine a few months ago who rode 31,000 miles in 31 days raising money for Muscular Dystrophy. I think he stayed pretty much on the interstates though.
May the rest of the riders be safe on their journey to the finish....
I do not buy it... They arrived two maybe three days before it would be physically possible to do that entire ride. Frankly, the math just doesn't work.

I have been following this challenge close. And I mean close. I had two friends from Birmingham in the challenge so I was providing CENTCOM for both.
Unfortunately one went down Sat. in Wyoming but the other is still going. I'm not saying he has/had a chance but he's been riding crazy and I had put him about 20hrs or so behind my best guess leaders.
For these guys to have done this the would've needed to run 20hrs a day with an avg. of 53.6 mph. The other 4 hrs would account for fuel/food etc.
I also know there was a secret check point. Everyone had the same directions. If you followed those directions you would have found the secret check point. My friend was told at least 4 had hit check point #4 WITHOUT checking in at the secret point.
