I am thinking about buying the SE Heavy Breather for my 2008 FLHX. What has your experience with yours been? Fuel Mileage? Power? Torque? Will it make your pipes sound any different (louder/better)? Just wanting to weight the pros and the cons!

Well it's going to give you more air which if you combine that with a fuel management system to give you more fuel equates to more power if tuned properly.....
I personally think if you just add more air and dont add the most fuel you can by having it properly tuned to deliver the best mix your not going to get your best bang for the buck...
Well i realize i will obviously get more performance out of the intake otherwise I would not consider getting it, but I guess I was wandering how significant it really was? Was there an significant difference in throttle response? I have also heard that you loose a little low end torque?
You will get some less restricted and more importantly, cooler air into the engine. W/o any other changes like say a dyno tune, better flowing pipes, I have a doubt that by itself your butt dyno will be able to detect any difference.
Everthing we do (air, fuel, pipes, tuner, cam) has it's own role and when combined together brings out the beast....
Will the air cleaner alone rock your world....probably not but IT IS a step in the right direction and only you know your bike....I'm sure you will feel some differance
Look everybody, he's already got pipes and a fuelpak on his bike, look at his signature. To the OP, I definitely would add a high-flow air cleaner as you're not getting anymore performance right now than a stock bike does. If you add a full stage 1 (by adding the intake) you can usually bump your HP/TQ numbers 10-15%. It won't change the sound of your exhaust at all though. I've got a Heavy Breather and love it, but I don't think mechanically it's any better or worse than any other high-flow air cleaner out there.

Thank you jeff.georgalas for paying attention When i bought the bike the guy had already done the stage 1 download, but had no pipes or "fuel piggyback". He claimed that the download would make the bike run 20 degrees cooler and was hoping to extend the life of his motor. I personally thought it was a bit of a waste and just trying to do everything right! thanks for your input! I will probably be down to Harley sometime this week to drop 300 big ones! Plus i am only 21 years old and it will give the bike a little more of an agressive style!
If your looking for performance. The Heavy Breather may not be your best option. I just replaced my SE stage 1 AC with the Heavy breather. I did not see any difference in exhaust sound, performance or fuel mileage. After doing the swap, I decided to get it dynoed. My mods are Woods TW-6 cams,BR2-2 with BCT baffles,SE Heavy Breather, Evo 30T motor sprocket,Baisley oil spring,SE clutch spring, Jerzee oil pressure gauge,PC-V from Fuel Moto. Brought it to a dyno tuner that I know is good. Jamie's map was pretty good. My tuner said everything looked fine. Tweaked it some. Biggest thing was lowering the fuel ratio. Poor gas mileage and dirty plugs made it obvious I had a problem. The tuner was real disapointed in the numbers it put out. Told me he got better numbers out of non cammed stg 1 bikes. I knew my pipes were hurting my numbers. But, he told me he's seen lower numbers with the Heavy Breather, and other forward facing intakes. He switched one out back to the stg 1 kit, and seen a significant increase. He basicly said I have to decide what I want. Power? Or looks? If I were to do it over again I would not have bought it. So, for now I'm going for looks. I personaly don't like the looks of a 2 into 1. If it wouldn't be for that I'd change pipes, intake and get the heads done. Just thought I'd share my experience. The SE Heavy Breather sure does look awesome thou.
