Default Phantom pad or MOCO pillion

looking at getting a passenger pillion and the good ones are just as much as the factory add-on's. despite contrary opions, i am not disappointed with the stock solo (i will upgrade, just not right now) but i have heard not so great things about the add-on. mostly what i am looking for is some input on the stick-um pads. are they worth it comfort wise. i mean i'm not talking about a 3hr freeway ride but at least an hour or so.

(and it looks like the phantom pads with the double suction cups will work on the denim paint).

I've heard mixed reviews about the phantom pad on the denim paint. Some say it works, others told me not to go over 35 MPH or the thing will fly off. I'm interested myself since my wife is on my *** about not being able to ride with me (which I don't mind but don't tell her that).

They make a phantom pad with the bracket needed to screw down the pillion onto the fender. You would just need the fender part and the screw for it and they are like a few bucks. The phantom is not recommended for passengers (at their website) unless you get the one with the screw down bracket. I have the stock Harley passenger pillion plus the sissy bar back rest for my Bob and it is comfortable enough for my wife for about an hour + 30. The Phantom is not that comfortable... short stints at best. The Harley pillion and the way it attaches for the 06 version sucks. Plus it looks terrible on the Bob unless I have the sissy bar on it. I ended up getting a phantom fender protector and using that under the pillion. It helped tighten things up for the pillion and protects my fender pretty good. I only go solo on the Bob now since getting a RK. Dunno if I am gonna sell the pillion and sissy bar setup for the Bob yet... probably just hold onto it for the occasional 2up on the Bob.

I have an "06" Street Bob in Black Denim and the Phantom pad. The pad will stay on for a second or two and then come off, that's just setting still!

I got rid of the Phantom pad and got the Badlander saddle from HD and have never looked back.

hmmmm can't read the post? i never said anything about protecting the paint, i said

(and it looks like the phantom pads with the double suction cups will work on the denim paint).
meaning that it has been mentioned that most of the suction cup pad will not stick to the denim paint. i was told by a shop (arlen ness LV in fact) yesterday that the double suction cup design on the phantoms WILL stick. OBVIOUSLY he was wrong as per the post by Alias.

and actually, i also said
are they worth it comfort wise. .
And JollyRogers confirmed what I already knew and failed to mention, that there was a bolt down for them now FOR SAFTEY PURPOSES.

sooooo, thanks jolly and alias for the input on the comfort part, that's what i was pretty much expecting. i agree, the Harley pillion looks like **** so i think i may get a whole second 2-up design and swap it out when i need it.

i kinda like the mustang classic solo, anyone heard any feedback on the comfort of their pass pad? (curious about the wide version)

The Badlander I got is from HD and I think it looks as good if not better then any sattle I've seen on a Street Bob.
