If they want to really sell maps they need to get local pubs on there, too. I'd buy one for sure then.
Local Pubs! That'd just take all the fun out of the ride. I once came upon a local pub in Smith, Nevada and it was like an oasis! Found a church that got converted to the local pub somewhere in Wyoming back in 1990. All we can remember is it was northeast of Sturgis! I've never been able to find the town again. Of course that was back when we didn't need no stinking map cause we weren't on any kind of schedule!
Actually, I would consider the GPS an alternative to the maps, which have been around much longer. Not the other way around.
A GPS is a gadget. On trips it is cool to have the information they provide. On my recent trip down to Fort Worth, having miles to go, time of arrival, and altitude data (I have COPD) helped pace myself, and coordinate arrival times at my destination. Much more accurate than reading a map. But for trip planning and getting out to the back roads, maps still rule the roost.
