Thousands do it themselves and have had no problem with warranty. Thousands have had harley do it and have had no problem with warranty. If you do it yourself, keep records, receipts and write down what you did.
This question comes up from time to time, and I would say if you're comfortable doing it yourself, go ahead. Keep receipts and document the date and mileage. Dealers like to shove people around that bypass their service department when something under warranty come up. Shove right back, I say.
My 1st was included... did all other myself except for the 20k. i paid $120 for them to go over the bike but leave the fluids myself...I know they checked it good...I can hang around and they don't mind...i ask questions and they answer...I don't even have a manual yet and the bike has 48k on it....So much freaking info on this site...If you ain't skeered to do it, go for it....It ain't that complicated....read your owners manual a bit, it has a lot of good info, believe it or not.
