Well... my Chinese crapboots didn't even make it to the shoe repair shop. The zipper blew out... and then the sole fell off! I kid you not. (It was glued on with cheap glue, obviously.) Though they were likely made in the same plant as HD boots, these happen to come from a metric cycle shop.
SO... the QUESTION IS:
I'm looking for a QUALITY riding boot. Doesn't even have to be made for motorcycles. I do want a deep cleated and STITCHED sole, padding at the inner ankle area a plus. Lace up prefered. Side zipper not necessary, but if one is there it needs to be a quality zipper.
What are you guys using, and how has it held up? Where to find?
I have a 5 year old pair of HDs, resoled once already - wish I could get another pair like em, but they have been discontinued.
Hubby has these and loves them. Two and a half years and with a little Doc Bailey's they still look new. His only comment, the toe box is big, he would have got a more rounded toe style - next time. http://www.mmccleather.com/motorcycl...cle-boots.html
I gotta ask how you base your assumption that your cheap Chinese made boots are likely made in the same plant as the HDs? Knock offs are plentiful and cheap imitations at best.
