For the same reason that an insurance company can't dictate that every person drive the safest car. The same reason that they can't dictate that a person is only allowed to drive a certain number of miles a year, or a day. The same reason that they can't dictate that people only drive in certain weather (snow storms cost them a bunch). They can't tell you what to eat, how much exercise or how many viatamins to take (yet)

Insurance rates are based on the cost and actions of groups of people. Premiums are paid based on the benefits used by all of the clients.

Most state motorcycle insurance never cover you just your passengers on your bike. And your health insurance covers you.

In addition to ToyPuller's response, WAKE UP! He doesn't have a point! Now you're saying we should be controlled by the insurance companies? What if I go to work and catch the flu from someone? After all, I had a choice to not go to work, but oh no, I went so I could pay for my health insurance premiums. Should my health insurance refuse to pay for my treatment because of my choice? Sheeesh, we need to use our heads for something besides a dew rag rack.

Yes, my intention was not to hijack the thread, but to make a point about being lectured on what I'm wearing (as others were eluding to). I was definitely not saying I'm the big biker with the chain, far from it. I don't wear a helmet all the time, I do always wear long pants and boots. The risk I take for riding without a helmet is my own.

I also don't give a crap if your an ATGATT guy (I just found out what that is not too long ago!), I'll ride with anybody except for maybe a guy in flipflops.

Lastly, I don't give a **** what cadman thinks about my bike-he doesn't have to ride it but I do wonder what that has to do with this thread.

So if an ATGATT rider is involved in an accident, he should be covered? This post ranks right up there with the most moronic I have read on this forum. An injury is an injury. No matter if you're butt naked or wearing a suit of armor. An accident is just that, an ACCIDENT!!!
