Bought the wife's 07 this summer with 1375 on the clock. Since I didn't know what dealer put in at 1K I did the 3 hole change with the oil's I like. No extra drains, whatever they used I replaced 98% of it (+/-).
Every time I check her oil it looks great, runs quieter and is never a blip on my radar.
hah?! you "don't know what's in the oil tank?" Whatta ya think is in there? SCARY MONSTERS!? There's oil in there if your doin' your homework! Jesus God, some of you worry about more stupid **** than even my 'ol lady...
Wow, your an a$$hole.I dont know what kind (brand) of oil is in my bike.I bought the bike in February, brought it to my mechanic and showered him with about 4k worth of parts. Bought it with 10k on it, and rode it a bit. Now I want to change the oil to synthetic. I was just asking if there was a way to completely get out all of the old oil from the engine. I was asking for opinions on a method, want asking for a common sense answer of there is oil in your oil tank. OBVIOUSLY oil is it. Thanks for the ppl that answered with intelligent answers.
There is a product called "Oil Scavenger" that allows you to remove about a quart of oil that remains in the sump. Their video looks good, I plan on buying one before my next oil change.
+1. I bought one and it works great. My oil with 1000 miles on it using the scavenger is cleaner than a friends that didn't use it at 200 miles.
Great product. You'll know it's worth the cost when you see that dirty oil coming out of your motor.
$22 for a 5 Quart Jug at Wal-Mart
$30 for the same jug at Autozone or Discount Auto.
Yea, but that mobil one is not the V-TWIN kind is it. Its the kind for cars. But im sure the "car" mobil 1 20w-50 is probably better than Harleys standard oil anyway right ??

My seriouis advice if you care, I've NEVER drained (flushed) my oil tanks, all my bikes have been reliable and long lasting... is that common enough sense for ya? (God that was boring....)
