Wife and I took our 08 FLTR from here in Michigan around Lake Ontario through Niagara Falls this weekend. Just north of Pulaski NY on state rd 3 we had the misfortune of hitting a deer. Cruise set @ 60 saw it a quick second before impact from the left. Thank god for ABS as no loss of control skidding. The fixed fairing on the FLTR took the brunt of the hit as we hit it dead center. Spun around and hit wifes leg, only bruising it. Somehow kept the bike upright and managed to get it to side of road. After prying mangled fender off front tire and checking brakes, steering, and suspension we limped it 20 miles to a dealer to have it checked out. Other than broken fairing and headlights, mangled fender, and bent upper fork covers it seems fine. Rode it back home past 2 days and will get it to local dealer for estimate of repairs. Thankful to be able to write this. Someone looking over us.

Hopefully the deer is jerky and steak by now. Glad to hear you're okay. It's also lucky the damage to the bike was fairly minimal, although that's definitely second to your safety. Someone was definitely watching out for you.

Glad you are safe. That is some good ridin to stay upright after hitting a deer.

Ditto all the above. Those with experience say accelerate if it looks like you're going to hit a deer. Fortunately I haven't had to try the theory out myself.
