Softail Custom discontinued- why?

Any sensible suggestions as to why the Softail Custom was discontinued after only 4 years. I thought it was brought back into production in 2007 because of it's earlier popularity.
How popular was it in the US, in overall sales? It's been discontinued in Australia as well. The Softail Standard was discontinued in the US a couple of years back but is still available in Australia

The Dave does some pretty dumb things--they discontinue their best looking bikes (Softail Custom,Night Train, Low Rider) and yet the Crossbones & Rocker live on. No accounting for taste.

You cant even get a soft tail with a normal front end on it unless you get a rocker and its *** end is all screwy.....in my humble opinion of course

4 years? I'm riding a 1988 Softail Custom, and I think the first model year was 1984!

I heard Chung Chow Ling Inc. raised their price on chrome 21 inch wire wheels so Willie G. told them to stuff it. They are seeking a replacement and should have a custom night train ultra ready to go by 2012.
