I have progressive insurance with towing. I got a flat on a Sunday night around 10PM, int he middle of nowhere Texas. They paid to have me towed home 150 mile, $400 towing charge. I had to pay up front but progressive sent me a check within a couple of weeks. I had to pay because progressive did not have a contract towing service in the area.
A good towing policy is your best bet.
By the way, I plugged the tire, when it went flat. A belt had broken in the tire, allowing it rub my inner fender, and I could not drive on it.

My insurance covers some towing but I would just call around and see who tows motorcycles. If I am near enough to home--I call a family member and have them bring my trailer. Not renewing my hog membership this year but I never called them anyway. I actually have went and got my trailer for someone myself.

I've had success with fix a flat on three different occassions. But failed once. It all depends on where the leak is. And some of the fix a flat brands are specifically for tubes. Check the can.

Cleaning fix-a-flat gunk off of a spoked wheel & the rest of the bike will make you use very bad language . May have worked for others but not me , ( middle of nowhere Kansas interstate at 6pm on a Saturday ) roadtrips I used to carry tire irons and patches till I went mags and tubeless now it's a plug kit and quick shot air cylinders packs into about 2 cigarette packs space and will get you to a real air pump somewhere .

The tire irons and patch's are why I'd never buy an expensive helmet , that's what I used to set the bike on when the tire was off

not sure why anyone would ride without tools, the ability to use them, and without a way to repair or replace a tube on the roadside.

So, just how do you get the rear wheel off a Softail on the side of the road with no lift? Even with proper tools, a gagrage and a lift, it's such a pain in the butt to remove and install the rear tire that I gladly pay someone else to do it.

So, LngRidr, how about showing us how it's done?

Ridiculous.

Plenty of riders do not have the ability to R&R a wheel on their bike, but that has nothing to do with their ability to ride.

I don`t ride a bagger, so there is only so much crap I can carry.

I don`t ride with tools to break the bead off the rim, nor do I carry a spare tube, patch kit, or a way to pump up a flat tire. Nope, I don`t carry a bike lift either.

And to attempt such a repair on the roadside would be much more work than simply getting the bike moved to a more suitable location.

In fact, I have never known anyone who carried tools to replace a tube on the roadside.

I do carry a cell phone, and have AAA Pemium.
