aside from hog roadside assistance or a bud with a trailer. Chitcan the spokes and make it the last time you breakdown for that reason. It couldve been a different story if you were pushing hard thru a turn to get home when it failed. NO spokes = 1 less chance to have a road failure.
IMHO spokes outlived their usefulness.
A well installed plug, like most good repairs, is better and stronger than the original. A tire holds air or it don't. And if you have mags instead of spokes, its not a bike, its a two wheel cage, LOL!
Maybe you could also get those hub caps that spin backwards!
1. Call a buddy with a trailer.
2. Call HOG or your insurance but they dont always have the right equipment to haul a bike either.
After that, get tubeless tires/rims. I had a flat (nail) 500 miles from home on a trip. Plugged the tire and kept on going. Of course I do have a bagger so carryig the tire kit and air pump is easy.
Definitely one of the best HOG membership benefits...worth the fee to have this feature.
i suppose if it worked you could make that argument. in my case, i spent 6 hrs on the side of the road before i could make it home in my own trailer that my wife had left to get 4 hrs ago....
So, just how do you get the rear wheel off a Softail on the side of the road with no lift? Even with proper tools, a gagrage and a lift, it's such a pain in the butt to remove and install the rear tire that I gladly pay someone else to do it.
So, LngRidr, how about showing us how it's done?
For those of us who have a Man card in good standing and some road time under our belts before AAA and cell phones know you can 3 point rock a bike up in the air using the kick stand as a leverage point , oh ya I forgot this was back before being a " Bagger " replaced being a Biker there wasn't so much stuff on a bike and if you had a set of ***** you could lift your bike on either end and kick the helmet under , been there done that . How are you gonna pick up your bike if falls over ? call the dealer ?
get on cell(i know you have one of those) call a friend, get them to go by wal mart(open 24 7) ,get can of fix a flat bring it to ya,that will get ya home.

Here we go, another thread turned into a real biker thread. I`ve done the roadside tire repair many times before cell phones etc, and it is a pain in the ***.
Fix a Flat only works assuming it's a relatively minor puncture. If you've got a real tear in the tire for any reason, it'll never seal it. That's why I have AAA Premium so I can get it towed. Again, if it's a minor puncture plugging it will work okay. However, it the tire's possibly had tread separation due to the damage I'd plug it and ride it cautiously to somewhere where I could get a new tire ASAP. If the treads have delaminated then you'll be pumping air under pressure which will cause more delamination and sooner or later total tire failure. A scenario I'd just as soon avoid when only on two wheels.
