If a friendship was lost over a hammer, then the friendship bond was no good to start with, or they choose poorly when it came to their friends. I can't say that I have not ever had a friend I didn't need or couldn't trust, but the older I get the more carefully I choose, and a couple of dollars for a hammer is not gonna mess it up.

Nobody has ever asked.

For all the folks that were adament about saying NO.......what if that same person asked to borrow your car?

I have friends (a married couple) that own two F-250s. Twice this year, they have gone on long distance vacations. They left a truck with me to drive, and they used our 2010 Mazda to take on their trip. 35 mph using our car, as opposed to 12 mpg driving one of their trucks. If something happens, the car also has full coverage. Long as they pay my deductible, I'm satisfied.

If you got a mc license and I feel that I can trust you, sure, take a spin and let me know what you think of it. After all its just a machine. Wreck it and I'll have a reason to get a new one, (hasn't happend yet in 40 yrs).

I see there is very little good will towards your fellow man/woman in some of you.

Just last month I was in front of our local dealership and a fellow I've seen over the yrs on several different bikes from Gold Wing to a Yamaha Roadliner asked what it was like riding my bike. I told him to see for himself and let him ride mine to the shock of everyone standing near by, including the person asking.

At the same time I test road his Roadliner. He came back saying it was the smoothest riding Dyna he's ever tired. I came back confirming that I wanted to upgrade my stock FXDC to a stage lll, while he came back wondering if a Harley may be his next bike. So it was a win-win in my book.

So far only the mech that has worked on it has. I do have a couple of relatives that ride that I would let ride and a couple of guys from work that also ride, that I would let ride it. For the most part I don't ask other people to let me ride their bike and they don't ask me.

This is another typical 'Boast Post' thread...

"I let 'em ride my ride....I'm a really great guy..
Or...
"No way will they ever get to ride mine....I'm real Badass...."

Long ago...... we were proud of our bikes, and it was common place to have a buddy ride your bike, so they could check out your latest mods.....
Now a days.... a motorcycle is all too often a "prized possesion".... something to be admired from behind a velvet rope.... with a "DO NOT TOUCH" sign.

There are still folks that allow friends to ride their bikes......I don't believe that either is "RIGHT".... it's your decision... it's YOUR bike.

Do I allow my friends? yes..... but then again, I've very selective about the people I select as friends.

Oh... and before any forum member askes... no.. YOU can't ride my bike.... I said MY FRIENDS....

My 2 buddies that have Harleys can ride mine - I know they have experience.

And of course Jesse James or Paul Jr. if they were to ever ask.

I have swapped bikes with fellow riders on a tour. I won't turn it over to some random guy, but if I've ridden hundreds of miles with someone and have confidence in their riding ability, I'll swap so we can experience each others bikes. So far, I've always like climbing back on mine, and haven't been on an exchanged bike that I'd like to keep.
