First Week of owning my sportster I ask two of my friends to try it out for a short spin one has a nice softtail the other has a nice firemans roadking both have years of riding under there belts and both would have fixed anything they might have broken.
Now I just give a No to anyone else. And If my two friends that i ask to try it out was to ask again i would have to ask to ride there's in return
No I'd rather not loan my bike to a friend again but would if asked.
I don't mean to sound snobbish but the last time I let a friend ride my bike we were heading down the PCH and he took right hand downhill sweeper at about 80 miles an hour. He didn't make it as he side swiped a car as he crossed the center line. He lost his left arm and left shoulder, his left leg at mid thigh and suffered from the brain damage until he committed suicide 11 years ago. I was driving his car following right behind him and watched as it unfolded. 32 years later I still remember everything, every detail. I know it wasn't my fault but I still feel as if i could have prevented it had I said no.
My friends understand,
Just something to think about the next time you want to be a nice guy.

So, you value life over your friends wishes?????
What a putz,
A real biker would much rather loan his bike and see a friend die!!!
Good looking Ironhead. People just don't appreciate sporties.
Thanks for the compliment. I spent a long time and much hard work building that bike from a wrecked basketcase. Most people have no idea what they're looking at, then they look a little closer and ask, "Why is the shifter on the wrong side?"
I let one of my friends ride my Sporty right after I bought it back in June of 08. I knew that he always rode motorcycles in the pass and had his lic for over 20 years. Right after he took off on it I noticed he tried to put his feet streight down on the pegs and one of his legs flu up backwards from his foot touching the ground. Ofcourse he thought it had mid comtrols like all the other bikes he rode in his 20 some years of riding. That just about made him run into a van parked on the street. I told myself that will be the last time I let anyone ride my bike. He said he never knew about forward controls on a motorcycle.
Other than myself the only other people that have ridden my bike are any tech's that have worked on it.
Up until a couple of years ago I would not ride anyone else's but lately I've bent that rule. Just two days ago a co-worker let me ride his RK for an afternoon when we had a off day in Florida where he lives. I was a bit nervous about riding it as it's more of a Chrome King then a Road King. Got allot of attention everyplace we stopped (I'm not used to that). People were even taking pictures of it.
Since I'm only home a few weeks a year to ride my own. I have to ride something or I'll go insane and as they say...."Desperate times call for desperate measures". So I rent or ride someone else's if they offer.
Still won't let anyone on mine though.

Just ask "dope man 21"
NOWHERE IN ANY OF MY POST DID I EVER SAY I WOULD RATHER WATCH A FRIEND DIE, if that is the way you took it then you sir are a ****ing idiot, and you can't comprehend what you read, go back through my post (that I included in this one for you, so you can read them all together and maybe comprehend what you read) and point out where it is that I said I would rather watch a friend die.

So true, I value a good friendship way more than money (probably cause I will never have tons of money, but can have tons of friends).
