I have an ’05 Heritage Classic, and average about 4000 miles per year. My warranty will run out at the end of the month. My question is, should I pay another $900- $1600 to extend the warranty. I might be wrong, but, I figure that if something was going to go wrong, it already would have. I also hear horror stories about people trying to get warranty work done (myself included). Thanks for any advise.
Odds are, you won't spend $1000 in repairs in the time that warranty would cover. So, just put it in an interest bearing account and save it for repairs. If you don't need any in that time, bonus. Then it will be a longer warranty.
That's exactly how the extended warrenty scam works. Be smart,
want piece of mind......put the money in the bank. What possibly
is going to go wrong for $1K. Even if the unlikely happens, pay then
not in advance.

when i bought my 05 heritage classic i got paranoid any bought the extended warranty so i have coverage an xtra 5 years![:@].bikes great,no issues.i think if it dosen't break in the first two years it ain't going to.save your money!now if it we're an 07 i might be interestedlol
Other variables play into it, though. For example, if you don't have always have $500 to get a repair when it does break yet can include the warranty into financing, then that's up to you. Now you'll pay more for it due to the added interest but you know that if it does break down, you won't have to pay for the repair or leave it sitting in the garage. I opted for the extended warranty (one year added) because it came with the service plan. My dealer services my bike every 2500 miles for 3 years and it cost me $2k. That's twice the services the company recommends and considering it's about a year and half old with 15000 miles on it, I'm getting my money's worth.

If there is actually a fault with material or assembly, it's going to show up in original warranty period. If you survive that, odds are there were no "mistakes" made in the manufacture of your bike.
I have never bought an extended warranty and to date (72 years) have never had a nickles worth of problems when out of warranty other than just routine maintenance.
