Default fixing a worn split seat

Anyone ever taken the time to fix a split seat ? Such as patching or anything of the sort ? I need to quick fix it temporarily until I can recover or replace the seat. The pic provided shows the tear. In reality, its a little longer and and on both sides of the seat.
Thanks

I had a seamstress sew up a split like that on time... cost some but lasted 'til I decided on a new seat. Do it yourself with heavy black polyester thread a heavy duty needle and do not forget a thimble or two for the fingers... you do a stitch along both sides for strength then do a round stich from side to side to pull the split together... There's always electrical tape LOL

I got by a while back using a piece of leather and some gorilla glue. It looked way better than the white showing through. Had a damn mouse eat a piece of my new seat, I patched it with black gorilla tape and added a little gorilla glue around the edges. It's barely noticable.

I thinking about purchasing some of the seat cover material, cutting to fit on part of the seat to look uniform, and using spray adhesive to adhere.

Get some scrap black vinyl from an upholstery shop. Cut a piece that is a little bigger than the hole. Slip the vinyl under the cut and use a vinyl glue to attach the pieces together. Home Depot has a small tube of glue that will work on vinyl. That will at least make a decent patch until you can replace it.

They used to sell a vinyl/leather repair kit. You mixed up a paste, added color, applied paste to damaged area, placed special plastic sheet over paste used home clothes iron to cure the paste. Then lift off the plastic sheet. Done.

I had the same tear so I pulled the seat, removed the cover and had my mommy sew some black vinyl from the backside. you can see the stitching if you look but you can't see the white and yellow insides anymore. looks great to me. It's no big deal to remove the cover and restaple it with any old hand staple gun with 3/8 staples. I can get the seat cover off and back on in minutes now as I have since added a little foam here and there and now my seat is much more comfortable
