Default What would you do?

I am fairly new to the forum. I have been reading here alot just not posting. I bought this bike back in April from a relative. I like the feel of the bike just not the overall looks.(reminds me of the old man I bought it from). My question is what would you guys change about it? I know its whatever I like but I am looking for suggestions. My main issues are the paint and the rear end. Any opinions on new paint schemes or ideas for the rest of the bike. Im just not sure which way to go with this thing.

ditch the apes and bag mounting hardware, ditch the front wheel and fender - go back to a spoke wheel up front with a narrower fender, drag bars, straight cut pipes, and take that chrome crap off the bottom edge of the rear fender (for starters)

i'd lose some chrome too - a nice mix of black and chrome is best imo ... have fun with it though, it's all yours

Put a 21" spoked wheel up front for sure.

If you like the fat fender look, the simplest thing would be to put the stock length tubes back on.

If you like the long fork look, as others have suggested, that is normally (although not always) mated to a 19" or 21" wheel. Lots of guys do run a fat 16" up front, but either ditch or chop the front fender.

If you elect to stay with the long forks, I'd take a blade to the rear fender just below the strut. As others have said losing the bag supports, trim peices and rear turn signal bar would clean things up a lot.

First thing I would do, because it's cheap, is find out what this bike is. It sure does have quite a bit of rake.

Taking all the loose stuff off is a good start as some have pointed out.

Your old man relative made himself a bike he wanted and by the looks of things he succeeded.

It's all on you now....what kind of a guy/rider are you? When you get that worked out you can start to work on your bike.

Right off, I would get rid of the apes, then get a different seat, luggage rack, passenger backrest...that would be a start and see what you think at that point...Not much you can do to the rear end...I don't believe except maybe different lights....the new wide tire is out due to the new frame..etc....good luck......bigal v

It's a cool and unique bike.
I agree with the 21" wheel up front. Try running it without a front fender (gives a real hoodlum look) if it doesn't rain too much where you live.

I honestly like the rest of it.

For the apes, you might want a little narrower bars-there's something wide or not right about the bars. Unless they're real comfortable to you.

I don't mind the rear end. You might search on the dyna section under "street bob" for rear fender stuff. A lot people have put on different rear fenders for that bike-real clean, minimalist, tiny turn signals, no turn signals, side mount license plate, etc.

If it were mine:

Pull the handlebars back in-line with the front forks, switch the mirrors under the bars, bring the turn signals back up to the handle-grips (no-to little money spent). That would be a starting point.

Back-end; is rider/owners choice as to bobbing the rear fender and or just adding a tombstone light. I would carry the flame motif from the tank on back to the rear fender (just a touch of it).

Front-end; if I was leaving the tubes the same length, I wold go with spoke wheel (fat or skinny), either with a different fender (again a touch of the flames), or no fender (again rider/owners choice).

And then, Ride the dickens out of it.......... All Changes will come in due time.

I like it and I'm 28! I would smoke the lights out, drop the bags and maybe possibly lose the flames. If you keep them I would do something with a ghost flame but repaint it definately. Don't add any willie g skulls!
