"In order to keep the gaps closed, you risk rear ending the bike in front of you when he slams his brakes."
That's why you ride in a staggered formation and pay attention. The problem with most Group rides is that there are too many inexperienced and un-skilled riders in them.

Why do many Harley riders think that it's OK for them to block traffic for their caravans? Just imagine the outrage if car clubs that caravan did that also, bet that there would be gestures from Harley riders too.

Ever have a day where you are going somewhere, and catch every red light.
After an hour of red lights, you catch a train. It's a long one and it ain't moving very fast. Trains gone, finally you get moving again.
Now there is the road construction traffic.
You finally come to a light that is actually green. No wait, there's a scruffy looking guy with his bike blocking your path.
He says you have to wait for green lights too! Not just red ones.
But flipping him off would be rude, right?

Gee, why would you be mad? Is it all about me me me?

Basically, this guy had no business doing anything dangerous.
But I don't think it's unusual to be pissed about traffic annoyances.

I think we all are! LOL

It's in the manual: Don't shave for two days, prior to riding.

Too true! Thus the "slow down/speed up - gap creations". A total mess.

It ain't a dam ride anyway. It's a friggin parade.

Do the charity runs that go off in your own groups, like poker runs.
Those parade things are a horrible mess.

A local guy got killed in one last year in Valporaiso Indiana.
An 80 year old guy went around the bike blocking the intersection.
Says the road looked clear to him. The rider got a ticket while in a coma, but didn't have to pay cuz he died a month later.

There is the whole problem right there, if you don't leave a hole, they can't cut you off. I hate when I do a toy run or something and get stuck behind somebody that won't keep up, couple of custom choppers last year. They kept dropping back, dropping back, dropping back and then get on it for a hundred feet and then slam on their brakes. Aggravating as hell, and one of them had a short in his lighting so the lights kept flashing off and on every five seconds. I finally had to pull over and get some folks in between me and them. Dude that pulled out sounds like a dick to me but if your buds would have been keeping formation, he would have nowhere to cut in. Glad nobody got hurt.
