I've read all the posts on gas brands, My bike doesn't care what brand it is, it still pings. Believe me, I thought it was the brand I was using, so I would try different stations.
I SHOULD get a SERT installed and a good tune. Being retired, there's that fixed income issue. I priced the job at my local HD dealer (SERT + DYNO time), OUCH! But it would get rid of my problem I feel.
I had a gift card to shell so I used it in my bike and I have to say the bike did not ping, but did seem to be a bit lower on power. Ran that fuel out and when back to Sheetz and the bike was back to normal. I will not use Shell unless I have to.
I know Redmondp, put what are we going to do? Shell is my first choice for running in my 2007 HD Ultra Classic, my 1984 Carrera 3.2, my 1985 930, and my 2001 996 Twin Turbo. It works fine in all of them. No pinging, no dieseling, and no problems. Now if I could just find it w/o the dumb a _ s ethanol life would be good!
Search Ethanol Free Gas for locations in USA & Canada. Lots of locations plus the pro and con of Ethanol.
It's all I use in both Harleys and the Hayabusa. Maybe I should try something different. How about Costco?
It's coming from the same terminal, just different detergents and additives being injected at the rack. Although they may be buying an unbranded major name. I never delivered Costco before.
BTW, I was in Sacramento two weeks ago, beautiful area!

Look at a Thunder-Max A/T
Use shell gas in a F150 and two motorcycles, Also use Shell Diesel in 2 Powerstrokes.
Have never had a problem
The dude I work with runs 2 tanks of shell out of his truck a week. No problems.
I work at a Shell station, and have never had any problem with the gas, BUT..
The local farmer's co-op has non-ethanol gas, and while the bike doesn't seem to run any better as far as performance is concerned, I do get better mpg with the co-op gas.
