What are the chances that my local shop will use parts that I purchase from someone else? The only reason I ask is that I am waiting on delivery of an '07 Road King Classic, and have a whole list of different parts that I need to order. I took a look and I can save a few hundred ordering from Chicago HD. The only problem is that I don't have the experience to do the wrenching myself (yet).
most shops will not install another shops parts. Even if they are new and in the package. Not to mention on the new bike they would kill you on installing them if they did.
You MIGHT be abel to get a bag from your local HD dealership and put all your parts in it and go tell your service guy you have parts you are wanting to install that you ordered (through there parts department) and when they come in you need to set up an appointment to get them installed. Then just through them in your saddlebag and bring them in. They may never know
I'm done with Chicago H/D. Been waiting 5 weeks for some parts. Better order now if you want Christmas presents. There are other vendors out there that give you 20-25% off with faster service. I think Chicago H/D got too big for their britches and can't handle the volumn of orders.

did you bother to call them to see if the part is on backorder? Maybe it is not there fault.
I've had some pretty big orders with Chicago HD and never had a single problem. Occasionally an item will be on back-order, but I've had nothing but good experienced dealing with them in person, on the phone, and via internet. They've even bent over backwards to get me good prices on after-market stuff like V&H exhause, Back-off brakelight modules...... Once I ordered the wrong item - my fault - and it was a special order item. They exchanged it and there was zero re-stocking fee and no questions asked.
They present order I'm waiting for I've called twice on. One item out of three is back ordered from the MOCO. Last week it was 'in transit' from MOCO which normally takes 2 days. I asked for an email when it shipped. So far nothing. Every order from them has had something back ordered and it has taken weeks. I started with internet orders then switched to phone hoping that would speed things up. Negative. Like I said, I'm done with Chicago H/D. Especially when M&M Cycles ships out partial orders when things are backed ordered and you save as much as Chicago.
Hey vegashd nice pics it won't let me post there so if you could e-mail pics to midwesttom@yahoo.com. I need to look into a membership or something. Thanks Tom
