What one thing got you hooked on riding? What thing made you say WOW!!! I'M GOING TO DO THAT!!! Mine was ; When I was about 10 years old my uncle Bob came over on His Harley.I don't remember what kind. Just that it was big (to a 10 year old) red with a white seat and white leather saddle bags with fringe and chrome every where. He looked at me and said your old enough Get On. I got on the seat behind him. he didn't tell me what I was supposed to do. He took off with me just sitting there looking around. I almost did a flip off the back when he took off. I was scared to death. But God was I cool as I rode around the neighborhood on that Harley. I was hooked. From that point i knew I was going to own a motorcycle. Got my first bike when I turned 18. been riding ever since and i'm 62 now.
Was down at a local bar and the chicks dig bikes they will jump on a bike with any swinging dick. So I said I got to have one. Been hooked ever since. come to think of it now I enjoy riding solo more. proble because wife gets tuchy about bringing any 2 bit tramp home
It was the easiest way to change irrigation water and to visit my friends that lived in neighboring farms. Being under age, 12, for riding on the road ways to travel where we wanted on dirt bikes. I just thought it was what all folks did.
I knew I'd one day own an Electroglide after watching the Shriners doing figure eights in the road at the Christmas parades back when I was four or five. I still remember the minor nuances between each of the bikes like it was yesterday.
That was Forty five years ago now! I've had mine for just over a year now. You couldn't knock the grin off my face.
I grew up around it. My dad and all of his "Brothers" would often find themselves at our house wrenching, drinking or just talking sh*t.
Funny... I think that made me anti-motorcycle until I was in my mid twenties. Some of my Army peers were avid enthusiasts and they drew me in. Now I get it. I know why the old man would hop on the scoot and vanish for days. I just wish I would have accepted my fate years earlier.
Saw bikes growing up and liked the vibe they gave. I have older cousins and one had all the toys one was a sporty 1972 maybe all chromed and he was the man. I got on different dirtbikes after that and loved the independance and solitude. I enjoy the comrodery now and the therapy of rideing.

Engraved Rebellion: Inside Bundnerbike's Glam Rock II
Just a kid, 1950's, my friends and I would check out the motorcycles at Hap Jones on Valencia Street in San Francisco. The bikes were mostly BSA's, used Triumphs, a few Royal Enfields, Indians and Harley's. We were sometimes allowed to sit on the bikes...squeeze the levers...twist the throttle...just great. The shop was right there...old...thick with oil and the smell of engines. Didn't take much after my first ride in my early 20's on the back of a friends BSA Goldstar, aluminum tank, megaphone pipe, single cylinder 500cc thumper. Loud and it went like hell! Owned bikes ever since I had the change to buy one...
