For us tall guys you got to get the Fat Bob. I am 6'2 as everytime I sit on a Fat Boy I feel the Softails just sit too low. Plus, I really like forward controls and the Fat Bob has them way out there. Just the best bike in my personal fleet.
I'm 5'10" and 250lbs. I do not feel the Fat Bob is small for me at all! Just coming off sport bikes, I do not feel the TC 96 is underpowered at all (of course we could all use more). Between the Fat Boy and Fat Bob, you certainly get more bang for your buck with the Fat Bob. Dual disc brakes is what finally sold me. I have never rode th Fat Boy Lo, but have been super happy with my 'Bob!
Forget the AAFES deal over her.. one of my platoon sergeants found me a Fat Bob right there in at Ft. Bragg. Wife and Brother in law checked it out. Deal is done.
2008 Fat Bob w/9,100 miles
Denim Black, Vance and Hines Short Shots Pipes, Screamin Eagle Intake, and Power Commander Programmer.
Many parts already powder coated.
NADA Value is from $11,300 to $13,500
Sold for $11,000 to include all stock parts and he even threw in a Super Glide rear fender.
I'm pumped. With the money I'm saving I want to immediately lift the tank (not sure about 2' or 3")
I'm also thinking about immediately changing out the headlights (don't want the dual headlights to make it look metric). Any advice? Another caveat to the headlights is I was thinking about adding a Night Rod style headlight cowl to a single headlight. Any ideas on how to do that?
Also, When it's time for new rubber, can the stock rim and front fender handle a 140mm or 150mm tire?
When it's time for new rear tire, I want to go 200mm and swap out the rear fender with the Super Glide (or maybe get a wide glide). Are there any suggestions for:
1) a kit to move the license plate (i've seen in various threads someone discussing a side mount, or even one that let you flip the plate vertical or horizontal, and i think someone found a kit that fit right up to the rear fender).
2) How hard would it be to cut the Super Glide fender to highlight the new 200mm
3) Can I fit a 200mm on the stock rim? Which tire should I get?
4) Taillight - I saw in a thread, but can't find it now, somebody linked to a shop in Europe that made a badass led light that fit right under the rear fender. I mean, all you saw was a line of red LED lights peeking out from the back of the fender. What was that place (Black-something)?
Thanks guys. Any help would be much appreciated. I redeploy from Afghanistan in 3 weeks and I'd like to get some of the parts ready for me when I get home and take some vacation time.
