I'm 5'10 with a 6'2 reach. I'm going to be buying one in June 2012 when I get my next promotion. I've previously had alot of really fast rice rockets, but ready to cruise on a Harley. The Fat Bob has the better looks IMO, but has a straight handle bar. Both have the new 103 ci engine with slightly different torque characteristics. The Fat Boy is a little heavier and 1K more. You guys got any advice or thoughts.
I came from a similar background as you (sport bikes) and wanted to get into cruisers. I knew I would not ride as fast as I did on my sport bike, but I still wanted to be able to keep my angles tight in the turns. I did a bit of research and found that the Dyna family, in general, handles better than softtails. I bought a Fat Bob a year and a half ago and have not looked back. Long story short, I believe you will be happy with a Fat Bob if you still plan on hitting the curves hard. Good luck in your decision and be sure to post again once you decide.
Right now I'm stationed in Woodshole, Ma (Cape Cod). There is a HD dealership about 15 minutes away. I suppose I should see what they have in house to see and sit on to see what feels the best. My last bike was a 2004 Yamaha R1 and was uncomfortable as heck and had too much power. That thing would lift a tire at 115. My thinking is a Fat Boy but the Bob's look good.

Fred
good idea to look close but when ready to buy i would suggest go to ron at montys in west bridgewater. pm me for more specific info, but he is a better sales person to deal with imho than any of the sales guys at cape cod harley.
I come from a similar background. I love my Fat Bob. Couldn't get past riding such heavy bikes with only one front brake disc. And the 2012 Fat Bob's have ABS as an option.
