Someone told me that, among other things, the cat provides exhaust gas separation for each of the two O2 sensors.
They said that when you remove the cat on a stock pipe, you lose this exhaust gas separation, and then O2 sensors can no longer differentiate between what gasses come from the front or rear cylinder.
This, in turn, leads to the ECM blindly making unnecessary adjustments.
Is there any truth to the above statement? I'm now more confused.........

I'm no Engineer, but that sounds like bunk to me. The sensors are in the individual pipes prior to the cat location, all I can possibly see is more exhaust gasses passing by the sensors because the restriction is gone,they would sense more oxygen present and richen the mixture...Kinda what we are after?
