I've witnessed someone do this first-hand. I worked as the manager of a small newspaper circulation firm, here in Japan about 15 years ago, and we used 50cc Honda Cub motorcycles to deliver the papers with. One of the part-timers was gassing up his bike, but the gauge was broken and he couldn't see how much was in his tank. No problem, he thought, just take out my trusty lighter and...BOOM! Set the bike, himself and the owner's house on fire. Luckily there were no serious injuries or property loss.
I need some advice from my "biker" friends about an incident today. While I was gassing my bob at Allsups in AC today a bug flew into my fuel tank. I pulled the nozzle out and grabbed for the bug as it fell into the gas. I thought I could see the bug but it was dark in the tank. I lit a match and looked into the tank. All at once a orange and yellow flame shot out of the tank causing me to feel heat and smell burning hair. Quick as a flash I put the cap back on the tank. The fire went out and I beat the fire out on my head and upper lip giving myself a bloody nose. Me being a optimist I realized my next haircut would be discounted 50%, also my right ear hair was taken care for for quit a while. Now back to my question. I was so busy fighting the flames I forgot to look for the bug coming out of the tank with the flame. Question: Do you think the bug blew out of the tank or do I need to take another look in the tank?
Why go to the trouble of making the print so small.
Simple fix Just drill a 1" hole into bottom of gas tank and the bug will flush right out. I"m sure that the bug has drowned by now so the flushing should work best. After the flush just patch hole with duct tape, learned this on the red green show and it worked ever time for them
