Geesh ... back in the 70's we didn't use lights at all in the daytime. I never run highbeams unless it's dark and nobody is coming towards me. In fact I don't even use my aux lights because I hate replacing them.

Usually if someone takes a left turn into you, you were probably going WAY over the speed limit and they could not tell how fast you were heading towards them.

Sorry but this thread is kinda wimpy.

What a great idea!!!! Blind the oncoming drivers in cars, trucks and on motorcycles!
Make a dangerous situation worse. On one side, you might have someone trying to
avoid a motorist that just cut them off and they are trying to avoid another vehicle, when
here comes some idiot running high beams, blinding everyone else around. You cause
a crash and then you go blindly on your way! or....
You get mad because you meet someone on a bike and they don't return your wave
because you blinded them with your "brights" and they couldn't see you wave.
Do us all a favor and run them on low beam using the courtesy rule.

I usually switch it on when riding with the sun to my back. I feel it's when I'm more likely to net be seen as well. Most other times during the day I simply don't think about it. I ride like everyone is out to kill me. That means nowhee near as fast as I used to.

I use low beam + amber auxiliary lights. Amber because it draws more attention when the lights of all surrounding vehicles are white.
Low beam because it's illegal in PA to have auxiliary lights coupled with high beam

Can somebody please explain to me how running high beams during the day is in any way blinding? I'm talking about on a bright sunny day. (we get lots of them in Fla.) If my high beam is blinding you in broad daylight, then you've got a problem.( I'm not sure what it is though.) Where I live, there is a very high percentage of elderly drivers. I use my high beams during the day with the modulator. It has saved me countless times, and I was NOT speeding. The modulator shuts off if the natural light gets too low-like at dusk, and does not work with the low beams. I would NEVER blind oncoming traffic by using my brights at night. That is plain stupid. But during the day? Give me a break....

I'm sure you would never do anything in PA that was illegal? Stuff like speeding or tampering with an exhaust system?
