On the other hand, I consider one of the uglier features of both to be that little stubby front tire.
My only single problem that i dont like about the crossbones is.. i actually like the look of he stock seat with the springs but then i think it looks crappy when you put the passenger pillion behind it! And the pillion is a must for my wife to ride on the back. And then if you install a 2 up seat like the badlander it takes away from the nastalgic look! Thats my only problem with that bike! I love everything else! Oh and my wife thinks its ugly!

Hate to confuse your search any more than it is, but if your criteria is a stable ride that's easy on your back...you ought to take a closer look at a Road King. If not, my vote would be for the Fatboy...its been around a long time and will probably be here for many more years so it has great aftermarket support.

I just came back from the dealership! I took a close look at the Fatboy lo for the first time. Let me just say i have too many issues with this bike as far as looks! First for black heat sheilds on the exhaust they need to cover more of the pipes underneath you esp notice thise when sitting on the bike and looking down! 2nd the pipes need to be black all the way to the end those satin finish ends look awfull. 3rd would be the satin finish it self all over the bike just looks fake and plastic like for my tast! Should have used crome or black!! The entire front fork looks off with the gloss black ending and then that silver starts. And if i would go with this bike i would have to put apes on it! I will say it is a good idea for a bike and plat form but i would have too much money to get it to look the way i want! IMO the bike as it is is not worth the price! Crossbones looks way better to me and would need alot less done to get it the way i want it! To be fair tho the Fatboy was a denim black! Ill have to see the vivid black cause it might break up the monotany on the bike and look a little better! But i doubt it!

Obviously, I am partial to the Fatboy, but I just don't really care for the Fatboy Lo. But again, you should get what YOU want. I would ride both bikes and decide which one fits you the best and which one you feel most comfortable riding.

So i know in the end its up to me and i defenetly will take them for a ride before i choose. But since its winter time i figured id ask to see if anyone was in the same spot and took both for a test ride and what one they liked better? The dealer wants 16,299 for the Fatboy and 16,999 for the Bones! But i figure if i go with the Fatboy throw on the Black 16inch apes they will be about the same price in the end!
Go test ride both of them...nuff said.

You said it, and, YES...The King is King. Best of ALL worlds..cruiser and touring....take off the shield and it is the best looking cruiser in the HD line up. Then just go ride for 500 miles... the KING.

The Fat Boy is also a GREAT choice. I have had both..the real Fat Boy, not the Low. The Low will go away like the fat tire choppers from TV, the BIG DOG, Texas Choppers, Bones, Rocker...

Might look okay today....but.....the look will tire....

There sure is a lot of xbones hate on this forum. I was in love with mine from the moment I saw her. This is the only place where I find the majority of people hate them, but every has different tastes. A ton of people comment on how much they like it, but one of me friends apon seeing it ask how much money i spent to make so ugly. I think its cool as hell plus comfortable and different from all the other softails. Was at the dealer today and they sold 3 xbones and still had their lo, but the bones were 09's and priced considerably lower guess no one wanted them until this week.
