I need some help, I have ben looking every where for a jacket. I don't know if it is me being picky or I just can't find one that is comfortable... sleeves to tight, its choking me, ect ect....... I have gone to all sorts of diffrent stores and tried on a verity of jackets.
My question is what are you ladies wearing out there, and what are your suggestions for a new ridder?
Check out Newenough.com- they are service oriented and offer great deals. I have 3 different models of Joe Rocket jackets for varied climate conditions. For summer love my Cleo- in colder weather I wear a Meteor model. I also have a Phoenix version. They fit me the best.
I know the feeling...but, having said that, keep in mind when you are trying on a heavy leather jacket that after some wear and tear, and some regular waterproofing, it will supple up. Everybody has a different preferrences when it comes to leathers. New leathers are always stiff and don't feel quite right (especially a heavy leather). You just have to find the right fit (around the neck, length in the arms, and length down your back) and work out the stiffness. I would opt for something slightly larger than a perfect fit if you intend on wearing warm clothes underneath. Remember, leather will stretch and soften.
This reply is from a man but about my wifes experience. Go to your local Harley Davidson dealer and try on a few until you understand what style fits best and how the sizing works for you, Then go to e-bay. My wife got 2 beautiful Genuine HD Jackets used but Like new. Both jackets would have been between 4 and 6 hundred each, she paid $100 and $125 respectively Men can't get the same deal because we don't tend to get rid of them but fortunately for you there are still lots of women who by a jacket because the boyfriend rides, they break-up and bingo cheap jacket on e-bay! Lots of Luck. Michael
I picked up one of the Tour Master Flex convertible jackets from NewEnough -- very versatile, comfortable, etc. The guys at Newenough are great with helping you choose fit-- they haven't steered me wrong yet. Fox Creek leather makes nice stuff as well-- I own a pair of their deerskin gloves.
And if you are considering one of the H-D jackets be sure to try them on, especially if you are small --- their stuff runs **extremely** small, I've never had a "Large" jacket fit me before...
Oh, and nice bike, I pick up my 2007 XL883L tomorrow....
I got my wife a $400 slightly used Harley jacket on Ebay for $85. She loves it and doesn't have to worry about it either. I just missed a real nice HD bomber jacket for $127.....
I have 3 leather jackets 2 hd leathers and basic one. I mainly ride with this one. it has a zip outliner vest and it has vents in the armpit areas and 2 on the back. however it rides up sometimes leaving some of my backside in the breeze.
JaminLeather.com is a great site. They have a brick and mortar store in NC somewhere. Although I'm riding 150 miles tomorrow to go visit a store in Slidell, LA that only sells motorcycle leather, because I want to try before I buy. I'd also try the local Harley dealership, they have good jackets and your local Honda/Yamaha dealerships too.
... the Mrs. bought some REAL cool stuff from Jamin leather...nice...
another cool site is Leatherup.com...good stuff, reasoanable $$ and they ship super fast with a no BS return policy...jacket quality is good too...none of that patched leather crap...I've scraped pavement wearing their leather and walked away fine (a bit of luck and a guardian angels help!)...its still my favorite jacket (more so now!)
Good luck...and welcome to HDF...from anutha NYer!
