This has more then likely been discuss before but I just have to put it in print again. I have a 07 deluxe Burgundy and Cream which I installed stock hard bag on; my choice for my painter is a a person who builds custom Hot Rods and restores Classic and most inportant is he does painting for local Harley shops. With my VIN # in hand he had one of the dealership call Harley Main Office to try to get so help on the color Code we knew they would not get us the exact code but all we were looking for was the base tone under the Gold Pearl Clear to make the Cream match. As you know by this thread they looked at the VIN and agreed it was Custom and they said sorry for your luck. They said they could supply the Bags already painted but with the stock design for the 07 Ultra classic for a little less then $2000.00 well for that kind of Money I can paint the hold bike a real CUSTOM color. I have said enough I quest the moral of this night mare is if you are thinking of buying a Bike with a Custom color save your $900 they charge you and give it to a professional local painter who will thank you for business not penalize you for it.
A bit of a PITA but if you take say your front or rear fender to a good auto paint supply store they can set it under one of their machines and basically take a "print" of the color and give you the correct color codes.
Damn...2K for paint for a set of bags is a lot of money!

And I have to be trueful the $2000 was with freight and the hanging brackets added in the bags alone are around $1700.
When I bought a fairing for my Road King, I brought the front fender into Ben's paint & auto supply, I came back the next day and they said here ya go, a quart of Aztec Orange with the PPG code for Harley on the can.
