Default 6th gear light

What is the point of this thing? I know when I'm in 6th because I am exceeding the posted speed limit. How about a 1st gear light so I will quit trying to roll away from a stoplight in second. I get annoyed every time I do that, I know the bike is in first but the bike insists I didnt downshift as I stopped.

This was my biggest reason for buying the dakota digital speedo but as it turns out that the gear indicator doesnt function when stopped. So I suppose I will continue to be that guy who nearly stalls his bike at every third light

See, that's why you need to develop a habit of always trying to downshift before you take off. At least, that's what I do.

As for the 6th light, it's to make those people who traded in perfectly good 5 speeds feel good about their decision.

I know it's there but have never paid any attention to it. I am always aware of what gear I'm in.

Some people try to go up another gear that they don't have - this just lets them know they are already there.

I wish it would tell me what gear I'm in at all times...but then I like useless gadgets

Cheers,

After U have ridden for a while I'd think U'd know usually what gear Ur in..

If U don't use it, don't worry bout it. probably could unplug it also.

I've been known to do that even with the stupid light there! Maybe it's because I rarely even notice it.

There's another thread somewhere around here where it seems a goodly number of bike owners wish the light was a big neon job, or at least something really big and noticeable.

Mine doesn't come on until after I let out the clutch, even though it is already in 6th.

Guess I'm so used to my bike that I can tell by the tach....now without the tach I'd be lost.
