My "Factory" HD Michelin's were made in Thailand. So what does that mean?

My point exactly - I know Dunlop's are made in the USA (at least some of the motorcycle ones are) & that's cool.

I like to spend money as much as the next guy - but I dont want to just throw it away.

For the question about why I'm changing the oil now & not doing it myself. I expect the title in the next week - at which point I will be riding if the streets are dry. Not far - but up & down the road.

Its time to get it road ready & I want the dealer to give it a look over just in case someone snuck a japanese tire on it or something!

That Japanese tire will most likely void your Harley warranty. LOL! Wont beat on you for having the Dealer do a service that you could do yourself. I understand convenience and the charge I have to pay for it. Same service on my StreetGlide would run me around $80 for Mobil 1 and filter with fluids changed in all three holes. Takes me a couple of hours to do the job and check over my bike for those ever-elusive "critical fastners". I have no one to blame other than myself this way.

Ha - Yup! I wish I had a HD warrenty - its an 05 with 14k miles. Plus it was dirt cheap for this bike anyway. - All it needed was the oil changed & an american tire!

Now - you should all know - the japanese tire was installed by the dealer I purchased the bike from. its brand new - zero miles - I don't even have plates yet tire.

HA! I asked him if there were any other surprises??? He said he hadn't started on the bike oil change yet but he wanted to let me know that Harley's shouldn't have japanese tires.

HAHA! I told him to leave it there & if I have any handling problems I'll be sure to replace it with a harley davidson part number tire.

I sure hope he doesn't "find" anything else - like Japanese oil in it or something.

You know - not to **** anyone off here - but the japanese make good stuff - that's why they have kicked our *** in manufacturing for so long.
Sounds like Wallet Brothers to me.
Didn't the previous dealer just do the service? Most good dealers do on any used bike they sell.

Exactly. That's why I was wondering why he wanted to change the oil already and he hasn't even rode it yet.

They didn't change the oil - or if they did - it was pretty black. So I figured might as well change it.

In any case - I was initially pretty happy with "wallet bros" but they have been calling me every day telling me all about the expensive stuff I need to replace.

Starter gear is warn out they say yatta yatta. I see now why the call HD's Hundred Dollars.

I doubt I'll take it back now unless I'm in a pinch or something serious happens. But with 14 k miles & fresh oil & tire - I expect to be good for a bit.

They did find a broken spoke on the rear wheel though - had to fix that. I'm not into having a wobbly wheel.

I learned something else new today.

Once the dealer has your bike - they wont let go of it.

They called me yesterday about the broken spoke & warn starter gear - & a tooth on the fly wheel blah blah. So I said fix it.

They then called back & said they can't get the parts for another week.

I told him to button it up & get it back to me. If I have an issue with it I'll fix it myself.

I swear - there are only 6 bolts that hold all that together anyway.

So - We will see if they ever return my bike.
