Hey AK97fxdwg,

Well.. maybe I have naturally warm fingers, but I was very surprised that these gauntlet gloves protected me well.

I bought HD just because I wanted to try on the gloves that I buy, and they are the only dealership near me... but I was very pleased with them. I did notice that I felt little or no difference with speed - the wind really didn't get through the material. I am sure that heated gloves would be nice sub 40 degrees, but I felt these were just fine for me above 40.

The glove I purchased is HD P/N 98158-95VM , description:

Leather, full-finger gloves are fully lined. A windproof membrane of Windtex® is laminated to DuPont Thermolite® insulation for superior wind resistance. Pre-curved finger and padded palms, fingers, and knuckles. Ergonomic thumb construction for added mobility. Warmth insulation. Gauntlett cuff, adjustable strap, Velcro®-like hook & loop touch fastener system, and elastic wrist closure system. Harley-Davidson® graphics.

ORIGINAL: Tripper

Silk long johns, silk inner socks, wool socks, boots, jeans, leather chaps, longsleeve t, heavy t, leather jacket, full finger gloves, scarf or mask, full face helmet.

I agree with Tripper. Only thing I would add is a pair of lined jeans. They make flannel or fleece lined jeans. They're nice!!

I started wearing my Columbia ski jacket last year and for the first time I was toasty on a winter ride .
I have matching insulated pants, they fit under my chaps. I can take the inner jacket and put it under my leather HD one. This in my last cold winter , by next winter I'll have a bagger with a heated seat!

Thanks - I've had some minor frostbite on both little fingers and after years working in the cold, I think I have naturally UN-warm fingers. I'm not crazy about the idea of wires going to my hands but may just have to give in.

You can buy good insulated drawers, layer up, wear bulky crap if you want to....I did for years and made fun of guys with electric gear. Then, one day I broke down and bought the electric stuff. It was the best motorcycling accessory that I have ever bought. People call it expensive....It's not all that expensive if you factor in that it has a lifetime warranty (Gerbings and HD labeled Gerbings stuff).

The coldest I've ridden in is 17*. That's not a ride around town, either. We left going it Daytona in 17* on the interstate. We were fairly comfortable. Nothing but a long sleeve t-shirt, the heated liner and a leather jacket up top.

We wore it going to and from Myrtle last week. It was in the 50's-60's about about half of the trip. All we wore were light windbreakers with the heated jacket liners underneath. It sure felt good riding with that warm heat on compared to riding with a chill. You get a little warm...cut the thermostat down, you get a little cold...cut the thermostat up. No more layering up and trying to wear just the right amount for the temperature changes.
