The gas prices are out of control. I can remember when I got my first bike in 1972, my parents gave me 50 cents a week gas allowance and at the end of the week I had money left over.
Yeah, we're pretty lucky here. The lowest I saw this morning was $3.05/gal.
What irks me the most is that when it goes up, it goes up $.20 at a time, but when it comes down, it comes down one penny at a time. Fortunately, I got gas Tuesday morning at $2.93/gal. Later that same day, it had jumped to $3.09/gal. Yesterday, it was down to $3.08 / $3.07, and today it was $3.06 / $3.05. It seems to go up on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so we'll see what is when I head home this evening.
I put just over 5 1/2 gallons in the Harley today and got 0.53cents change from a Twenty. I think it will get worse before it gets better. I sure hope I don't need to bring two twenty's to fill my tank before the end of summer....
It's about $3.55 for Premium here in Las Vegas. What's gas like in your area?
I know this isn't the section to knock the price of gas but I posted my answer to this and I have the solution for gas so hang with me a minute. U.S. has the largest oil reserves in the world. I got an E mail yesterday saying so, then it must be absolutly a proven fact. (LOL) Unable to drill on U.S. land because of the Enviromental folks protest it. They pass enough money to the scumbags in Washington to agree not to hurt/disrupt the system, animals in Dakota & Alaska, so the big source of oil comes from them SHEETHEADS. Where do these huggers get such a large bankroll to pass on to the afore mentioned scumbags? From the afore mentioned sheetheads so they can continue the lifestyle of the few controling the oil. I quit. ETHONAL FREE premium @ 3.25 $ in my hometown. Man, I wish it would dry up & warm up so I could go ridin' & clear my head.

Reason: spelling
i remember when my parents used to tell about the gas stations having sales to compete with each other, they'd advertise 5 gallons for a dollar !! but this was before WW 2. a lot of us can remember the SO-CALLED GAS SHORTAGES back in the 1970's, this was when they had so many tankers backed up in the Chesapeake Bay , & other waterways through out the country, that you couldn't have gotten a row-boat in there, once they got their prices jacked up to where they wanted them , ALL OF A SUDDEN , ----BAM !!! ---- NO MORE SHORTAGES !!! another way we're getting gouged at the pumps, is when THEY RAISE THE PRICES ON GAS THAT THEY'VE ALREADY BOUGHT, WHICH IS ALREADY IN THEIR TANKS !!! you can't tell me that there isn't someway this blatant price gouging can't be brought under control & regulated .

come on man...these types of statements are meaningless and just plain assinine.
you cannot look at the price of ANYTHING in a vacuum w/o comparing salaries. You do realize the average salary was 3.75 an hour in 1972? Makes that 3 cents a gallon look a bit more expensive now doesn't it? So, you only went through a gallon a week? Not much riding.
To put things in perspective..
1972
$3.75 $0.38/gal
2010
$22.50 3.25/gal
If you notice that is a fairly close ratio. oh the horror.
