I'm probably gonna hear some crap for this but here goes anyway.
My truck gets around 10 - 11 MPG. My Superglide gets around 33 - 35 MPG (around town). The little Honda I didn't get rid of when I bought my Harley gets around 55 - 59 MPG on regular ethanol junk gas. Guess what I'll be riding to work this summer? Even considering getting one of those 50cc scooters for commuting. 22 miles round trip, no highway miles. As long as I wear a full face helmet so no one recognizes me then WTF.
Don't get me wrong. Love my Harley and my truck but simple economics dictate...
Plus it will make the weekend rides on the Harley just that much more enjoyable.
OK, flame away.
Calgary:
Regular (no ethanol!) US$4.20/gal C$1.12/liter
Premium (no ethanol) US$4.45/gal C$1.18/liter
Normally we have amongst the cheapest gas in Canada. Your gasoline stateside still looks pretty cheap to me! The difference is taxes, so Obama still has some room to add a little more of a grab.
I drive a CTS V Coupe which loves lots of premium. Since it is winter, I don't have the choice of the Dyna ... or a scooter.
It's all ok, though. Obama is going to get you lots of windmills.
I watched my corner station go up 15 cents today. I would like to figure out how I can get on the profit end of this deal. There is a bunch of fat bastards getting rich some where.
I called a local independent shop today to ask about getting my lower fork sliders chromed. I caught them as they were closing so I'm hoping they misunderstood me. Said it would be $300 with shipping of $100 to 150. I saw that I can order some from Zanotti's for $279.
Anybody else had there's done lately and if so how much?
Relax. It's just the continuing transfer of wealth from the west to the oil producing states. Those tankers bring oil we consume and leave with cash we'll never see again. Plenty of finger pointing and blame, doesn't stop the cash flow from the US though.

I just made a trip to East Texas. They are drilling wells all over the place and hitting oil and gas in all of them. Then there is the shale formations from north dakota all the way to texas that they are pumping oil out of by the millions of barrels. Supposed to be enough oil in those formations to last our country for 200 years. Explain why the hell we are paying these ridiculous prices. Big Oil is sticking it to us and the congress is full of politicians being bought by Corporate interests.
In 1963 Min wage-$1.25 gas - about $.25 (Gas war, as cheap as $.09)
now Min wage - $6.00 plus - gas - $3.33 (ARCO)
gas was 1/5th now just about 1/2. The last time gas when up, they showed a record profit, bet they do it again.
