Is this worth going out for a couple of days? I would like to go but cannot find very many positive up beat threads on it. So whats to see and do on a limited time schedule?
Thanks in advance,
Mike
AZ bike week is a joke compared to the big rallies (Laconia, Daytona). There is WestWorld events which is the most centralized event area. Vendors, bands, etc. You gotta pay though. Depending on where you're coming from and what you're expecting, it's worth the trip for some of the beautiful rides here.
The wife and I are going to hit the demo rides for Harley, Boss Hoss, and maybe the Can-Am. We have some friends who do not even have a motorcycle that are going just for the concerts. Other than that, we are both taking off this week to spend a lot of time out riding around the area away from Phoenix.
http://azbikeweek.com/index.htm This is the site with event info. That would be the best resource to see what is going on each day.
As for where to stay, I would suggest checking the internet for the best deal. Scottsdale will be a whole lot more money than say Glendale, Mesa or Chandler.
I'm riding down tomorrow (Tuesday) to help set up the Hoka Hey Tee-Pee. I've never been but from what I've heard, I don't think I'd be going otherwise.

The bar events and dealership events are WAY better than the official Bike Week events at Westworld. Westworld is mostly just a bunch of vendor booths.

My brother, nephew & I have made it an annual deal to 'walk the bikes' at the Buddy Stubbs party on Cave Creek Rd. The bikes park on the side of the street for a mile or so, and every year we just walk down Cave Creek Rd. and look at and comment on em! Best bike show in town, and totally free. We walk through the vendor area get a free t-shirt or pen from the 'Law-Tigers' and buy a can of soda from a bucket of ice for a buck. The West World dealie is just a bunch of vendors and overpriced food and drinks that you see at every bike event ever put on, but the concerts may be worth it if you like that kind of thing. But, lotsa free interesting stuff to do during the week if you want.
For comparison, IMO Westworld (Cyclefest) is way better than Vegas Bikefest's Cashman Center if you've ever been there. Same vendors of course but more of them I think and the location is nicer. $40 for entry for the duration and that includes the concerts (Skid Row, Warrant, Heart, Buckcherry). You can throw a tent down right there at Westworld for $75 for the duration and there are showers right there.
As a local, the only reason I go is to hang out with friends, check out the ladies, and watch the concerts. I've ridden all over this area many times so I don't bother with the organized rides. But for someone who's never been here the area has lots of nice places to ride and it would seem like it would be worth it, at least once.
Supposed to be near record heat this weekend though from what I am hearing today, mid-90s ...
