Default Spark Plug Wire Clip?

Hey Guys....been a while. I'm hoping someone can help me out. I replaced the spark plug wires on my 06 Wide Glide today...figured the SEs were only 20 bucks, so I bought those. When I got home and went to put them on, I noticed that that small, black 'retainer' clip (that holds the two wires close together - where they come closest) doesn't fit the new SE wires...it's way too small.

I guess I have two questions...does anyone know if those are 1) necessary...or just for keeping things looking neat....or 2) does anyone know of a clip that would fit the (thicker) SE wires...maybe aftermarket...chrome, etc.

Thanks for your replies.

Todd

I make most of my own parts like that from other cool stuff around the shop. Look around your garage, you might find something or hit the hardware store & grab some stainless flex line that you use for supply lines under your sink. Their braided. Cut the ends off, pull the plastic water line out & slip them over your plug wires.
Just a thought to get your mind thinking!
hatch.

I got three tie wraps. I cut the head off of one of them and cut the locking clip out of the middle. This will leave you with square piece with a hole in the middle. Then I threaded the other two tie wraps through the square piece and wrapped the two tie wraps around the wires.

I don't have any pics but here is my awful attempt at drawing it. The black piece is not drawn to scale obviously

You can find some of those clips different sizes under the hood of a car.Look at the vacuum hoses for different components like charcoal canister, emission stuff or any hoses attached or are parallel.Theres usually different sizes on there.Oh yeah even the plug wires might be a hit.
