Went last year but can't this year. However, maybe next and just in case, below might be a tip you could use too...
We hooked up with the California "Run for the Wall" bunch (Southern route) when they got into Virginia. Rode with them for the last couple of days going into DC and their ride "fee" was less than the savings we got back using their group discounts at the hotels, especially at the hotel there in DC area. You might look into that.
