help with sturgis 2011
My wife wants to go to sturgis but dont think she can make the ride from nj , 1700 miles. I have heard that the week before is better for sight seeing and less crowed, any ideas which airport to send her to? She can ride 4-500 miles but that would be max. How about a motel / hotel any recomendations? Money is tight but going anyway . Looking for a clean comfortable room , dont need a pool or hot tub just a clean room at a reasonable price.

Going this year for the first time. Going the week before also..friend turned me onto a nice place in Custer...Chief Motel. 89 bucks a night the week before and includes a free pass to the national park there if ya stay at least 3 nights

I rode out from VA in 09'. 1700 miles each way - no way would wifey be able to handle that.
Next time, I'll have her fly into Rapid City, SD.
Had 2 friends do exactly that - they rode the bikes, their wives rode the friendly skies...

Fly her to Sioux Falls, then ride across the state with her. Flying into Rapid is more expensive, because it's considered a vacation/tourist area. Rapid is only an hour or so from Sturgis.
