you should never buy something on a 84 month note, that is pure finacial sucicide, your smart to pay off your bike or at least try and sell it, than go deal , you were smart to go home and sleep on it never buy on empulse

Consider yourself lucky. You learned a valueable lesson and it didn't cost you anything. A lot of other people don't have the sense to sleep on a major decision like that, then they wind up over their head in debt.

Most sales people don't give a crap about what you can or can't afford. All they see is comission. There are a few that look at the long term with the understanding that you may someday want to buy a second ot third bike from them.

You did the right thing.

Happy Memorial Day.

A 7 year note on a motorcycle just seems crazy to me.

You almost got took!
Never, ever buy based on payments. Never, ever give them a payment you would be happy with. Never, ever make a trade where they are adding on the difference between trade-in value and what is owed, better yet never, ever trade a bike or car in. 10+% interest is just plain ridiculous.
Now that you know all this, never, ever go back to that dealer.

Think your takin yourself for a ride. First, its clear you never put enough down on your first bike if your upside down on payoff. Shouldnt even be lookin for a bike if your that far away from paying it off. Want low payments and low interest rates??? Try working on building pu your score and pay that first bike off and then go looking AFTER you have a sizeable down payment. Lasy thing you should be is 'bike poor'.

84 months For the average male that is just shy of 1/10 of your life span.

$5700.00 trade in. I would not have had that conversation with my wife.

If I finance I would go to my credit union and aim for a loan 24 to 48 months max.

But owning way better than owing. Save up and pay off your bike.

Your bike is worth more, but that's about right on tade inn. yeah a 7 year loan is not good and to end up paying $25k for a fat boy is not worth it IMO. I love the Fat boy low's, but I have a 08 1200 C and rode a 2009 Fat Boy and I have to tell you I would rather ride one of my Sportys any day. The Fat Boy feels well FAT when riding it. Just hang on to your bike for a bit and get it paid down more , then see what you can swing then.

i always said i'll finance two things, my home, and my kids college education. everything else i pay cash or don't buy it. i saved and drove and old beat to **** sporty until i could buy my used fatboy with cash. i own it free and clear which is great. i've been wanting a boat for probably 10 years now but no way i'm financing a boat.

the novelty of the new bike will wear off very soon, the payment will last much much longer than the new bike joy will.

oddly enough the best deal i got on my used 05 was from a dealership, it had a carb so no one wanted it, they just wanted it off the lot danburry hd does a lot of volume. i got it for under 10K with a little over 2000 miles on it, paid cash and out the door, no extended warranty, no maintenance contract (i can pull a plug and refill a hole just fine).

i found the craiglist owners were completely delusional, for the same bike they wanted $12,500 or even more some of them. they think their chrome and bolt on crap = money, it doesn't...
