they will ask you how you got the bike there(in ardmore), and i have personally seen them impound a bike because a unliscensed rider rode to the test. The DMV and Highway patrol station are in the same (very small) building and they are grade A douchebags. Ol boy was HOT when they took his bike
took the test, passed... rode the bike there... we joked with the instructor about how "my buddy rode it here, and dropped it off for me"...
I will tell you this, Loud Pipes might save lives, but they sure as hell won't help you when taking a riding test in OK... I couldn't hear the instructor's directions... missed a couple of turns, and even spent a good 3 mins trying to adjust the mike when I was stopped in a neighborhood (during the test).
Oh well, at least I am legal now.
Thanks to all for the posts.
be safe out there, there are crazy riders that haven't taken the MSF!!
In Lawton they give you a walkie talkie type device and the examiner will give you directions while following you in a car. You would be better off taking a MSF class first in lieu of the driving test, IMO.
I find all this quite interesting. WA state's MC driving test is done solely in a blocked off parking lot, weaving around cones etc. Almost all of it is done in first gear, and the toughest part is maneuvering a tight corner, especially if you have a big bike. They used to have different sized bike levels for your license, but now it's all or nothing. If I had to do it again I'd get the smallest, lightest scooter I could find and do it on that. (In fact, when I did the test back in the 70's I did it on a friends Honda Trail 90 - it was before they went to graduated licensing, but now they don't have that anymore)
Nevada makes you go around cones,go to second gear and stop in certain amount of slash marks on the pavement, and put your front wheel in a box. i took mine on a duelsport pass %100. a guy showed up on big yamaha. He asked me if i took the test on that? then asked if he could use it.
What ever you do, do not get the Oklahoma permit, you will have to wait 30 days to take your driving test. Just go and take the written and make the appointment for the driving test.
I screwed around and let my license expire about 10 years ago, when I got it renewed, several months later, they dropped the M off my license. I never noticed because it had been on there since I was 14, about 20 years.
Anyway, when I got this Harley, my insurance agent informed me I did not have a motorcycle license when they looked at it.
I had to go and take the test, nothing tricky down the street, through a neighborhood, and back to the station.
My son in-law took his a month ago, same thing.
Neither time dd they ask how the bike got there, nor did they care.
If they ask, say your friend dropped it off on his way to work.
