I am looking at changing my stock seat on my 07 Street Glide....Has anyone done this on this model or any other touring Harley?
I don't want to lose the sleek minimal look but I want a sligthly deeper/more comfortable seat with a more substantial passenger seat. Also, wouuld you go one-piece or two?
one piece Sundowner. Wider passenger pilon, my wife immediately noticed the difference and likes it a lot. (almost too much, she's there all the time!)
Let's you sit more into the bike than on it. Very comfortable over longer periods of time. Works well with the rider backrest.
I swapped out the stock seat on my RK Classic with a Sundowner and a rider backrest.
I think the Sundonwer is a much more comforable seat and the rider backrest is great.
Sundowner seat here right out of the dealer on my RKC. It's a nice seat but I just changed back to the stock seat. I sit a little lower now so I can flat-foot at stops. Wife doesn't like the seat though.
KR, you think the stock seat sits you lower than the Sundowner? I think the opposite.
I feel like I'm more flat footed with the Sundowner and I'm 6' 2".
Put the sundowner on my new 07 SG, since Im short 5'7" I sent the seat in and had an inch shaved off the sides and now Im flat footed also. Have to do that with the stock seat also. As for comfort the sundowner is great for both me and the girlfiend
Yep - Sundowner here too. Much more comfortable on a longer trip for both me and the wife. But it did raise my seat height about an inch. I think much of that might be the wider "horn" at the front of the seat that spreads my legs out further at a stop. I'm considering sending it to the custom shop.
I sometimes use the stock seat during the week around town - I think it's better looking than the Sundowner. But on the weekend, the Sundowner goes back on for those long rides in the country!
I think to answer your question, almost everyone has changed their seat, or has two and goes back and forth.
I ride a badlander most of the time because I like the way it looks. I use the stock one for passengers. Thinking of getting a sundowner as well. Seems to be a real popular choice.
